Céline Cantin - REG. OT (BC), CHT

Occupational Therapist, Certified Hand Therapist
Owner & operator

Céline's journey in the field of occupational therapy began in 1985 when she graduated from McGill University with a bachelor's degree. She later pursued a certificate in Health Administration at the University of Montreal in 1994. This Certificate complimented her role as the Occupational Therapy department coordinator at a local hospital.

In 1995, she expanded her business and teaching skills by becoming a medical representative for an international corporation and taught and organized splinting workshops to fellow therapists and university students.

In 1997, Céline's commitment to excellence saw her achieve certification as a Hand Therapist. Her journey led her to British Columbia, where she founded Coastal Hand Clinic on October 31st, 2007.

A humanitarian at heart, Céline volunteered as the sole Certified Hand Therapist with the Touching Hands group in March 2020, providing surgical services to disadvantaged individuals in Honduras. Her dedication to this cause led her to join the group again in November 2022.

Céline's leadership prowess was evident as she served as the past president of the BC chapter of the Canadian Society of Hand Therapists. She actively engages in professional development, attending conferences such as the BC Hand Society's annual conference, where she is often invited as a speaker.

In addition to her clinical work, Céline is committed to nurturing the next generation of therapists. She provides clinical placements to UBC OT students and mentors aspiring therapists to obtain their Certified Hand Therapy title (C.H.T.), a crucial qualification for becoming an eligible WorkSafeBC provider.

In 2012, Céline achieved her goal to be the first Certified Hand Therapist to offer services in the Sea to Sky corridor, establishing the Alpine Hand Clinic in Squamish. Today, she continues to serve her community, primarily in Squamish, where she has resided for over a decade.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Céline finds joy in family, adventure, and artistic expression. She cherishes moments spent with her three grandchildren, indulges in water, mountain, and snow sports, and finds solace in painting in her home studio. With "Laughter heals" as a guiding principle, Céline embodies compassion, expertise, and a zest for life.

Testimonial:

"I just wanted to send out a huge thank you to everyone at Coastal Hand Clinic. I had a nasty crash at World Championships in snowboard cross in Spain. My left hand got crunched and Celine along with Sylvie have taken great care of my rehabilitation to get me back on snow as quickly as possible."
