Congratulations to Suzie on her remarkable achievement of attaining the Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) title, marking her success in conquering the rigorous exam in November 2020.
Suzie's journey in occupational therapy started with her completion of a Bachelor's degree of Science at McGill University in 2002. Her career trajectory initially led her to specialize in Splinting and Hand Therapy, where she cultivated expertise across various domains including acute orthopedic care, post-surgical rehabilitation, pediatric therapy, traumatic brain injuries, and community and home health services.
With over a decade of experience under her belt, Suzie has excelled in conducting functional assessments, worksite evaluations, ergonomic assessments, and developing comprehensive Return to Work Rehabilitation plans in a multidisciplinary clinic environment. Since 2004, she has been serving the Squamish community and traversing the Sea-to-Sky corridor to extend her expertise to diverse organizations.
Suzie's dedication extends beyond clinical practice, as she has conducted numerous education sessions on body mechanics, pacing, ergonomics, and pain management. Moreover, she has been instrumental in coordinating disability management programs for employers seeking to navigate occupational disability issues.
In 2016, Suzie furthered her qualifications by completing Matheson functional capacity evaluation training, broadening her scope of practice to include FCE assessments. Recently, she has directed her learning towards mental health conditions and psychosocial factors influencing disability, demonstrating her commitment to holistic patient care.
Originally drawn to Squamish for its rock climbing and mountaineering opportunities, Suzie's journey has evolved with motherhood, yet she continues to embrace outdoor adventures such as mountain biking, skiing, hiking, and occasional surfing.
Suzie's work philosophy is grounded in optimism, believing in the innate potential of individuals to enhance their functional performance and achieve their aspirations. Her unwavering positivity and dedication to empowering others exemplify her commitment to holistic healing and personal growth.
Suzie works Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
